Biography

John Heilbrun has been serving clients throughout the Greater Cincinnati area, including in Hamilton, Clermont and Warren Counties, for over 40 years. Although in the past, John has represented clients who have needed his services in a variety of different areas of law, including family law matters, over the past twenty plus years, his practice has been focused primarily on Family Relations Law. John assists people who are facing the end of their marriage, and who are dealing with the issues that arise when a marriage is ending, including the division of assets, (real estate, financial accounts and retirement benefits), as well as spousal support/alimony and the allocation of parental rights and responsibilities involving minor children. Although John has extensive experience litigating cases in Court, over the years he has learned that the best way for his clients to have all of these issues resolved, is through a process whereby the client and her/his spouse are to resolve all of these issues by agreement with the assistance of their attorneys, and sometimes other appropriate professionals. One of these processes, that John strongly supports, is the Collaborative Process. John has been representing clients in the Collaborative Process for over 25 years.

John is a native of Cincinnati, Ohio, and graduated from Walnut Hills High School. He received his B.A. Degree from the State University of New York at Stony Brook, and graduated from Law School at the University of Cincinnati College of Law. John was awarded his Juris Doctor in 1977, and is admitted to practice before all courts in the State of Ohio as well as the local United States District Court.

John is a member of the Cincinnati Bar Association, the Ohio State Bar Association, the Cincinnati Academy of Collaborative Professionals and the International Association of Collaborative Professionals. For the past several years has been named as a Super Lawyer in Ohio.

Over the years, John has extensive experience working with complex termination of marriage issues, including property division, support matters and parenting issues. In addition to having extensive experience representing clients in the Collaborative Family Law Process, John also has significant experience assisting and representing clients in Mediation and other processes designed to assist and encourage people who are ending their marriage, to work together with their attorneys to try and resolve all such issues by agreement.

John and his Wife, Gwen, have been married for over 40 years and have a daughter, Lauren, who is married and has four children. John spends a significant amount of his off time with his extended family and grandchildren, as well as several longtime friends. For the past 40 years, John’s favorite extracurricular activity has been golf.

If your marriage is ending, or you believe that is a possibility and would like to obtain significant information related to the processes available to terminate your marriage and the issues that will need to be addressed and determined as a result of the ending of your marriage, contact John Heilbrun to obtain such information, help and assistance.
